Metallic based shadow
Integrate a metallic finish to your eyeshadow, in terms of colour anything goes – experiment! I always love to use colour theory as my basis for choosing shadows so as a general rule:
Blue eyes – Opt for neutral shades such as bonze, copper and other warm brown hues to really make the eye pop. I always love experimenting with red and orange eyeshadows when I have a night out, especially if you blend these colours into say a dark brown, grey or black smoky eye.
Green eyes – Gorgeous tones of purple and violet will really set off your green eyes, shades of bronze and brown will also work really well as will deep and light shades of charcoal and grey.
Brown eyes – Lucky little devils can get away with all colours. I really love blue, pink or green tones to an eyeshadow to assist in popping brown eyes.
We saw a few examples of adding a little manic metallic to the eyes in the Donna Karan and Rodarte Fall/Winter 2014 shows.
My fave products for creating metallic shadows – MAC Pressed Pigments, Rimmel London Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks
Colour me BAAAAAD
Eye colour popping is massive! Whether it be with just a liner or splashing over the whole eyelid. Blue’s and pinks were really popular in the Kenzo, Diane Von Furstenberg and BCBG Fall/Winter 2014 Shows.
As you can see the use of colour doesn’t have to be so dramatic, you can use lighter shades and blending to create a really soft look, on the flip slide it is easy to create drama with colour using a heavy pigmented pencil, pen or shadow. You can try the Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll Eyeliner – Light Amethyst or the Maybelline Colour Show Crayon Kohl Eyeliner in Magenta.
Lashings of Lashes
All types of emphasis on the lashes are still on trend – thick, baby doll 60’s inspired and even more of a clumped feel all work!
Fake lashes are the easiest way to achieve a full on lash my favourites are Model Rock, Ardell and Lash Me. But there are also some pretty crazy Mascara’s out there that work just as well such as the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam, Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara and Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara.
